The hope of ecological victory in Kashmir is all on the display because as per the reports, so far this year over a million winged guests have already arrived here in different wetlands of the region.
The returning of such a huge flock in the wetlands of Kashmir are not just the figures but a victory of ecology that plays a vital role not only in attracting the migratory birds but also in the field of tourism.
With the arrival of over a million migratory guests from the different parts of the world, Kashmir has proved that the region has much better ecological balance and balanced climate in comparison to the other parts of the world.
The figures according to the reports of feathered guests have been mostly found on Wullar and Dal lakes. Besides, the other lakes have also seen a huge flock of the migratory guests.
This large growth in the population of birds arriving in large numbers is a very clear signal that the health of wetland habitats has improved.
Local individuals have joined together with government conservation groups as well as many wildlife authorities, and this partnership has created a formula for success regarding the conservation efforts of our local wetlands.
Through strict enforcement of laws prohibiting the illegal taking of birds, pollution control management efforts, and initiatives to improve public awareness for the importance of these birds, the proper conditions have been created so that these birds can thrive.
By arriving on the shores of the State of Kashmir in the millions, these birds are letting the world know that the tremendous amount of effort expended in conserving their winter homes was successful.
These birds not only represent the re-affirmation of the commitment to conservation in the Kashmir region but also create an opportunity for a new form of tourism during the winter season within the Valley.
This phenomenon of millions of birds migrating in mass creates a storyline of life and beauty to the parallel storyline of winter sports and will enhance the visibility of both tourism opportunities in the region.
Furthermore, the migration of these birds annually serves as a living learning experience, providing all who observe that migration with a real-life demonstration of how the health of lakes in the region provide for the well-being of our planet as a whole.
The journey of these birds is also a reminder of our responsibility to protect not only for our own use, but also for the benefit of future generations, those habitats used by these birds as they migrate across the globe.
