Drug peddler arrested

Srinagar, Oct 20: Continuing its intensified campaign against drugs and illegal mining, Jammu and Kashmir Police have carried out two separate operations in Kulgam and Awantipora, leading to multiple arrests and seizures.
In Kulgam, police arrested a drug peddler and recovered a significant quantity of contraband substances from his possession. A police team from Police Station Qaimoh, while conducting a checkpoint at Khudwani Bypass, intercepted an individual and recovered 09 grams of Charas and 01 kg of grinded cannabis-like substance from him.
A case under FIR No. 82/2025 has been registered at Police Station Qaimoh under relevant sections of law, and further investigation has been taken up. Police reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining a zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and urged citizens to share information that could help curb such activities.
Meanwhile, in Awantipora, police arrested two persons and seized two vehicles, including a JCB and a dumper truck, involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.
The operation was conducted by a police team from Police Post Reshipora led by SI Muneer Ahmad, during which a JCB without a registration number and a dumper bearing registration number JK13D-8100 were seized. The arrested individuals have been identified as Arshid Ahmad Bhat, son of Ab Rehman Bhat, resident of Renzipora, and Mysar Yousuf Bandh, son of Mohd Yousuf Band, resident of Kachkoot.
A case under FIR No. 221/2025 has been registered at Police Station Awantipora, and further investigation is underway.
