Assures swift justice, action
BUDGAM, AUGUST 05: In a tragic incident Tuesday, two students from Ichgam area, studying at Government Higher Secondary School Ichgam, got electrocuted after reportedly leaving the school premises to swim in a spring located near a nearby masjid.
One student unfortunately lost his life, while the other remains critically injured and is currently under observation at SKIMS Soura Hospital, Srinagar.
Upon receiving the distressing news, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, visited the bereaved family to personally offer condolences and express solidarity with them during this difficult time.
Dr Bilal assured the families that strict action will be taken against anyone found negligent, and justice will prevail.
DC further said that an enquiry committee has already been constituted to investigate the incident thoroughly.
He said that the committee will ascertain as to how the electrocution incident occurred, identify any lapses, and ensure that accountability is fixed.
He assured the administration is fully committed to a transparent, time-bound inquiry, and any official or individual found guilty of negligence will face action as per the law.
DC said, district administration stands with the families in this moment of grief and will extend all necessary support.
Further steps are also being taken to review safety measures around such places, he added.
DC was accompanied by ADC Budgam, Dy.CEO Budgam, DEPO Budgam and other officers during the visit.
