ACB nabs JDA official

Jammu, July 18: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Friday said that it trapped and arrested Kewal Krishan, a junior official of the Jammu Development Authority (JDA), for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of 10,000.
According to an official statement, the ACB said, “we received a complaint alleging that the accused demanded illegal gratification of 20,000 from a complainant to allow the continuation of construction on a double-storey building in Ballian Domana, Jammu. The accused reportedly agreed to accept the first installment of 10,000, prompting the complainant to approach the ACB instead of paying the bribe”.
“Upon receiving the complaint, the ACB conducted a discreet verification, which confirmed the allegation. Subsequently, FIR No. 14/2025 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 was registered at Police Station ACB Jammu, and an investigation was initiated.
A trap team, led by a gazetted officer, was constituted to catch the accused red-handed. The trap was successfully executed, and Kewal Krishan was caught accepting 10,000 from the complainant in the presence of independent witnesses. He was immediately arrested on the spot, and the bribe money was recovered from his possession.
In addition, a search operation was conducted at the accused’s residence in Flore Haramkund Gajansoo, Tehsil Marh, District Jammu, in the presence of a Magistrate and independent witnesses.
The investigation in the case is ongoing, and further legal action is being pursued as per the law”.
