2 hurt in transformer blast

Budgam, June 13: Two employees of the Power Development Department, including a Junior Engineer, sustained injuries on Friday following a blast involving a grad transformer in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
The incident occurred earlier in the day, triggering a swift response from emergency personnel. Fire and Emergency Services, along with teams from Budgam Police, rushed to the site and secured the area to prevent any further mishap.
The injured, identified as a Junior Engineer and a technical assistant, were immediately evacuated to Budgam District Hospital. Medical officials confirmed that both men are in stable condition and are receiving appropriate care.
“A detailed investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause of the blast. Prima facie, the blast occurred due to a malfunction,” a police officer said, adding that an investigation has been taken up to ascertain the cause of the blast. (KNT)
