Man dies after falling into gorge

Kupwara: A 55-year-old man lost his life after falling into a deep gorge while collecting grass in the forest area of Beadi Teetwal in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Saturday, officials confirmed.
The deceased has been identified as Mohd Rafi Tunch, a resident of Beadi Teetwal. According to local sources, Tunch had ventured into a nearby jungle to collect green fodder when he accidentally slipped and fell into a gorge.
Officials said the fall proved fatal, and he died on the spot due to the severity of his injuries. His body was later retrieved by locals with the help of police and taken back to the village.
Forested and hilly terrain in parts of Kupwara often pose serious risks to locals who venture out for daily subsistence activities like collecting firewood or grass.
Authorities have urged residents to exercise caution while moving through such areas, especially in steep and slippery terrain. (CNS)
