A Progressive Step

As the Board of School Education (BOSE) has tendered to announce the results of the 10th and 12th standard examinations on the same day, the students have seen the move in a more unique, student-centric, and friendly way.

This marks a historic deviation from the way the process has been practiced for over so many years. This way of thinking opens expanded notions of de-stressing examination moments throughout the process while ensuring fairness and incomparable assessment processes for all students involved.

For so many decades students and parents in this state have suffered in anxiety for results that in the past would not be announced separately. At the very least, the range of declaration in regard to 10th and 12th standard results has created unwarranted anxiety, especially for students hoping to secure a spot in higher education institutions or vocational courses that are focused on timely results.

With this announcement on the same day, BOSE is promoting not just practicality but limited anxiety and clear rules in a moment for students who should be respected for wanting the same chance as all others.

This decision is aligned publicly accepted implementations around the world where education boards strive to making assessment processes more equitable and student-centric in nature.

So announcing results on the same day will support all learners to secure their place before uncertainty clouds the process.

In addition to this, it is a testament to the government’s dedication to reforming the education system in J&K and ensuring that no student is disadvantaged with respect to his or her peers in the other states.

There could be arguments against this based on shared logistics, but the very knowledge that Board of School Education (BOSE) is looking to plan this change is encouraging in and of itself. It deserves credit for indicating yet again that it works for the benefit of students, and it will be creative and flexible as needed.

Changes like this signify hope for a better future. Power lies in education.

As elsewhere in Jammu and Kashmir reforms continue, BOSE has created a great precedent with this initiative. So, let us hope that this initiative is similarly executed so that an efficient and equitable academic setting is achieved.
