Empowering Lives

A landmark decision with regard to poverty alleviation, upliftment of the quality of life for the most marginalized sections in society, and improvement of conditions living have recently seen the Jammu and Kashmir administration extend free provision of 200 units of electricity monthly to all families that fall under the aegis of Antyodaya.

Once implemented, this revolution will certainly take place in thousands above the households in the region in terms of revolutionizing their livelihood. Quite such an excellent step where public appreciation will indeed be due for bringing not only immediate necessities but also development targets.

The specific free electricity directly to these households is the next logical level of AAY that was designed primarily to feed the poorest of the poor by Highly subsidizing food grains.

Electricity is not only the justification for the utility but it is, in fact, breathing life through its different uses like education, health care, livelihoods, and overall well-being. This is likely to create excellent transformational communities of the nation in today’s scenario.

Gladly, still endorse to traditional and inefficient sources of energy such as kerosene lamps and firewood, most Antyodaya families in Jammu and Kashmir. Their habit is not appreciable value-for-money, and has very significant health and environmental hazards associated with it.

Government providing families 200 free electricity units to work more towards feeding, educating, and taking care of health for the family to ease that financial load on these families for much more.

And finally, reliable electricity access will ripple through the local economy. It will empower a potential small entrepreneur and support women self-help initiatives. It will ultimately improve agricultural productivity as farmers will draw from electric pumps and equipment.

This reiterates social commitment by the government. Antyodaya families, by definition, would then be the most vulnerable sectors of society, and most of them are from marginalized communities like SC, ST, and other backward classes.
