Devotees flock to Shankaracharya temple in Sgr
Srinagar: A large number of devotees thronged the historic Shankaracharya Temple in Srinagar on Wednesday to offer prayers on the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivratri.
Braving the rain, men, women, and children formed long queues along the temple’s steep staircase, eager to pay obeisance at the revered shrine, which sits atop a hill overlooking the picturesque Dal Lake.
Authorities in Srinagar had made adequate arrangements to ensure smooth and hassle-free visits for devotees at the temple and other places of worship across the city.
A group of tourists from Mumbai, Himachal Pradesh, and Delhi expressed their joy after offering prayers at the temple despite the cold morning weather.
Kritika from Delhi, one of the visiting devotees, described her experience as “deeply spiritual and fulfilling”. “There is a divine aura around this temple, and visiting it on Maha Shivratri makes it even more special,” she said.
Special prayers were held at the temple, with devotees praying for peace, prosperity, and harmony across the country, particularly in Kashmir.
On this occasion, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, and other prominent leaders extended their warm greetings to the people, wishing them joy and spiritual prosperity on Maha Shivratri. (KINS)
