5 gamblers held in Budgam: Police

Budgam, February 16: Jammu and Kashmir Police in Budgam on Sunday said to have arrested five gamblers and seized stake money from their possession.
Police Post Narbal received specific information through reliable sources that some unknown persons are busy in gambling activities near village Jawaharpora Narbal in an open agriculture land, a police spokesman said.
“On receipt of this information, a police party headed by incharge Police Post Narbal raided the specific place and arrested five persons involved in gambling activities. They have been identified as Nisar Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Rehman Dar resident of Chanabal Mirgund Baramulla, Gh Mohd Bhat son of Abdul Aziz Bhat resident of Ghat Sozeith Goripora, Shahnawaz Ahmad Sheikh son of Bashir Ahmad Sheikh resident of Matipora Pattan, Gh Rasool Parray son of Abdul Raheem Parray resident of Sumbal Sonawari and Gh Mohiddin Rather son of Abdul Rahim Rather resident of Alambal Mirgund,” the statement reads.
Officers have seized stake money of Rs 33,500 and playing cards from their possession, it reads.
Accordingly, police said that a case under FIR number 21/2025 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Magam and further investigation has been initiated.
“Persons found indulging in criminal activities shall be strictly dealt with as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units,” police said.
