Srinagar, Dec 17: In continuation of its ongoing drive against illegal mining, Police in Budgam Tuesday seized 33 vehicles used in illegal transport of minerals which includes 14 Tractors, 18 Tippers and 1 LNT and 9 persons were also arrested who were involved in the illegal extraction/ transportation of minerals in the month of November, December.
Further, 6 FIRs were registered at police stations of Magam, Beerwah and Khansahib in the district.
This proactive approach to curb illegal mining has been actively taken up by all the Police stations of District Budgam along with the Mineral Department, Budgam Police also realised fines to the tune of lakhs of rupees against illegal extraction/ transportation of minerals.
“Police are committed to act tough against these violators. Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding illegal mining activities in their neighbourhood.”
