Jammu: The Crime Branch has filed three separate charge-sheets against eight individuals accused of duping complainants of Rs 1.55 crores by selling land already owned by others in Jammu. The accused allegedly used pretenses to deceive the complainants.
The cases were registered based on written complaints from Tarsem Singh Chib, ex-Havaldar of the Army, Pankaj Sharma, serving Army personnel, and Sanjay Choudhary, all residents of Jammu. Investigations revealed that the accused committed fraud, causing significant financial losses to the complainants.
The Crime Branch collected documentary and oral evidence, and obtained expert opinions from the Forensic Science Laboratory. The probe confirmed the accused’s wrongdoing, leading to the filing of charge-sheets.
Senior Superintendent of Police Crime Jammu, Benam Tosh, confirmed that charge-sheets were filed in three cases: FIR No. 40/19, FIR No. 45/2024, and FIR No. 58/2022, under various sections of the RPC and IPC, including cheating, conspiracy, and fraud. All eight accused are from district Jammu. The charge-sheets have been submitted to the court for judicial determination.
