Srinagar, Dec 04: The faculty of Agriculture, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Kashmir concluded a 6-week training programme on enhancing farmer entrepreneurship and skill development through FPOs, Agri-innovation and Start Ups.
The objective of this training programme was to educate trainees about the role of FPOs in skill development and fostering agricultural start-ups with innovation.
The speakers underscored and instilled the significance of agri-entrepreneurship, with a specific focus on FPOs serve as catalysts for skill enhancement and innovation, empowering farmers to transform agriculture into sustainable technology driven technology.
The programme was sponsored by the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) with an ultimate objective to promote new enterprises and inculcate entrepreneurial culture in UT of Jammu & Kashmir.
In addition to participating farmers, the valedictory programme was attended by (Prof.M. H Chest Div.of Soil Science) (Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganie Div of Horticulture, Faculty of Agriculture), and faculty members of Division of Agri. Extension & Communication FoA Wadura.
Prof. Chesti, enlightened the farmers about the importance of soil testing for improving agricultural productivity and ensuring sustainable farming, Prof Nazir emphasized that training and pruning are key to maintaining productive and healthy apple orchards.
Dr Shafat stressed on the skill based training programmes to build entrepreneurial mindset among the youth and develop their skills so they can launch their own innovation-led startups and business ventures.
He stated that startups are not only creating new jobs which mean more employment but are also leaving a ripple effect on the socio-economic fabric of the demography in which they are operating. He further added that agri-startups are taking a pragmatic approach towards innovation that is solving farmer problems at the ground level.
Dr Qadri added that startups play a key role in promoting innovation in a society and stressed upon the need for conducting more and more programmes like this. At last, PG Student Rakshanda Hanief gave the concluding remarks and presented the vote of thanks.
