Ensure maximum conviction in UAPA, NDPS cases: DIG NKR

Srinagar, November 23: Under the supervision of DIG North Kashmir Range MaqsoodUl Zamanin collaboration with the Prosecution department and retired Police Officers, one-day workshop on investigation of special cases (UAPA and NDPS) was organised at District Police Lines Baramulla.

In the workshop, many guest speakers were invited for sharing their knowledge and experience which include Mohd Ashraf Bakhshi (DDP Baramulla), Gulzar Ahmad (CPO DPO Baramulla), Rafi Ahmad Mir (CPO UAPA Court Baramulla), Ghulam HaiderBadhana (Rtd. SSP), Rafiq Ahmad Vakil (Rtd. SSP), Shabir Ahmad Shah (Rtd. Dy.SP) and Rafiq Ahmad Sheikh (Rtd. Dy.SP).

Investigating officers which include GO’s and NGO’s from districts of North Kashmir also attended the workshop.

DIG NKR MaqsoodUl Zamanin his inaugural speech welcomed all the participants and briefed them that the objective of organizing the workshop is to enhance and polish the investigation skills of officers and updating their knowledge on the SOPs to be adopted during investigation of special cases like UAPA & NDPS.

DIG NKR impressed upon all the stakeholders viz Investigating Officers and Public Prosecutors to ensure maximum conviction in UAPA/NDPS cases. He further said that as Police Officers, our role under the law is multifaceted as we are tasked with investigating narcotics related crimes and unlawful activities, collecting intelligence on these illegal activities & networks, executing seizures and ensuring the safe handling of evidences.

While concluding his speech, DIGP NKR hoped that work experiences and knowledge shared during this workshop by the Officers from prosecution department and retired Police Officers will help the serving Investigating Officers in their future assignments related to investigation of special cases and this effort on our part will pave the way forward in accomplishing the desired results at organizational and social level.

Moreover, Guest Speakers from the Prosecution Department and Retired Police Officers had discussions and brain storming sessions with the participants during the event which led to clearance of many confusions and lacunas being observed during the investigation and court conviction processes.

DIG NKR expressed his gratitude for their services and the time given by them for making the workshop successful.
