Srinagar: Cyber Cell Ganderbal on Thursday said that it has recovered 68 missing/stolen mobile phones worth lakhs of rupees and solved huge online money/financial scam fraud cases this year so far.
In a statement, a police spokesperson said that in order to extend the services to the general public and to redress their grievances, Cyber Cell Ganderbal received applications/reports from the general public about missing/stolen of their mobile phones during the current year 2024.
A special and dedicated team of Cyber Cell Ganderbal led by SI Gowhar Nazir under the supervision of Addl. SP Ganderbal Malik Aijaz recovered 68 mobile phones from different places which were either lost or stolen, he said.
“Out of which 50 mobile phones were handed over to their legal owners and remaining 18 mobile phones are being handed over today to their legal owners. Moreover, Cyber Cell Ganderbal solved huge online financial fraud cases in which an amount of Rs/163449 was recovered and has been refunded to the victims’ account and amount of Rs/1145669.08 was put on hold on receipt of various complaints,” the police spokesperson added.
Talking about social media cases, the police spokesperson said that the Cyber Cell Ganderbal resolved more than 44 cases regarding blackmailing and social media account hackings. “Rendering services to the general public, the swift action by Cyber Cell Ganderbal has been appreciated and applauded by all.
Cyber Cell Ganderbal have requested the general public to use mobile phones and other electronic gadgets with precaution to safeguard themselves from cyber-related frauds and crimes.
