In the modern age where technology is spreading in every field of life, the legal world is also getting revolutionized by Artificial Intelligence. Artificial Intelligence or AI simply means “a method of making a computer, a computer-controlled robot, or a software think intelligently like the human mind”. AI is spreading so fast and has become a powerful tool in today’s world by transforming healthcare, finance and now the Law. Now the question arises that how will it affect the Legal world?
In our traditional legal system Lawyers needs to get through hundreds of case files for the legal research, but now AI can do this in the blink of an eye.
We all know the constitution of India is the longest written constitution of the world and as law becomes more and more complex and data-driven it is becoming hectic for a lawyer to analyze the large amount of data in a limited period of time, AI can help lawyers enormously in Legal Research, case analysis, contract review etc.
Currently the tools like ROSS Intelligence or LexisNexis AI are used by thousands of law students to find the relevant case laws in seconds. So this speedy research helps the lawyers to provide more accurate data.
As AI continues to grow law schools may start teaching Artificial Intelligence and other tech literacy in their curricula to prepare the future lawyers to work alongside with AI.
But, their still knocks a question on the door of our mind that despite of these uncountable benefits yet it’s crucial to keep AI’s use ethical and fair by balancing AI’s potential with the principles of justice and fairness, So they do not undermine the fundamental principles of fairness in legal decision-making.
