Srinagar: Police in Srinagar on Friday said to have arrested three drug peddlers and recovered psychotropic substances, cash and drones from their possession.
According to a statement, a police party of police station Safakadal intercepted three persons riding a motorcycle at a check-post.
The individuals have been identified as Ajaz Ahmad Ganie son of Manzoor Ahmad of Athwajan, Owais Ahmad Gojree son of Bashir Ahmad Gojree of Braripora, and Mir Roman son of Mir Mohammad Hashim of Ali Masjid, Eidgah, reads the statement.
It reads that during the search, 140 bottles of Codeine Phosphate concealed in a box, Rs 38,530 cash (believed to be proceeds of narcotics), a drone and three mobile phones have been recovered from their possession.
Accordingly, police said that a case under FIR number 136/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered at PS Safakadal and investigation has been initiated, it added.
It reads that during the preliminary investigation, it has been learnt that these drug peddlers were using drones to monitor the movement of consumers (buyers), ensuring that buyers are not accompanied by Police, and also to track the movement of police within their area of operation to avoid potential traps by the police.
