Blames BJP for ending Darbar Move
Srinagar: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary emphasized the need for the Central Government to fulfil its promise of statehood for Jammu & Kashmir.
“The honorable Prime Minister and Home Minister assured that once elections were over and the government was formed, statehood would be restored. This commitment is essential to end the confusion and bring stability to Jammu & Kashmir.,” he said, according to a local news service.
Further details, according to the Associated News Bureau (ANB), Choudhary explained that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s recent visit to Delhi was solely focused on the welfare of the region. “Omar has gone there for the betterment of Jammu & Kashmir, for the employment of unemployed youth, for the construction and development, and for improving hospitals and schools,” he said.
On recent incidents of violence, Choudhary voiced strong disapproval, stating, “It is a pity and a tragedy that such incidents occurred. We condemn them strongly and express condolences to the families affected.”
He further acknowledged the sacrifices made by the National Conference, highlighting, “Our leaders and workers have been martyred. The National Conference understands the pain of losing loved ones in such attacks.”
Choudhary reiterated the party’s stance on Article 370, noting, “The National Conference has always been for special status. We will not let outsiders take our land or employment.”
He stressed the importance of statehood as a solution, saying, “When statehood is restored, other matters will gradually resolve themselves.”
Addressing the “Darbar Move ,” a tradition of alternating the government’s seat between Jammu and Srinagar, Choudhary assured, “Jo Jammu ki Thekadari uthaye hai unsey poucho Darbar Move kyun band kiya .We have tried from Day 1 to bring back the tradition. Though it may not happen immediately, we are committed to restoring it fully from next year. We have not done it. It was from Maharaja’s time.”
The Deputy Chief Minister affirmed the Government’s dedication to the people: “You will soon see the results of the demands and momentum we are building.” (ANB)
