Botapathri attack: Manhunt launched; SSP says 3-4 terrorists involved

Srinagar: In response to a recent terror attack in Botapathri that claimed five lives, security forces in North Kashmir launched an intensified search operation Saturday morning, covering a vast area from Baba Reshi to Gulmarg.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramulla, Zaid Mohammed, confirmed that 3-4 terrorists are believed to be responsible for the Thursday evening assault, which took the lives of three soldiers and two porters.
SSP Mohammed explained that while the search was paused overnight due to challenging terrain, it resumed early today with joint efforts from the Police, Army, and paramilitary forces. “We are combing through densely wooded areas in an expansive sweep aimed at locating and neutralizing the suspects,” he said.
The attack, which stunned local communities, has prompted authorities to expand search operations beyond Botapathri. Multiple input-based searches were previously initiated in Pattan and Kreeri, according to the SSP, following intelligence hints of possible militant activity.
Officials have expressed strong commitment to dismantling terrorist networks in the region, stating that the operations are crucial to restoring stability and security across North Kashmir. (ANB)
