3 peddlers held in Awantipora: Police

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested three drug peddlers in Awantipora and recovered psychotropic substance from their possession.
Police party of Police Station Pampore headed by SHO PS Pampore under the supervision of SDPO Pampore during naka checking near EDI Pampore intercepted a vehicle (Eco Sports) bearing registration number HR26CK-0579 with three persons on board, a police spokesman said.
During the checking, two bottles of Codeine were recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Shabir Ahmad Shah son of Gh Rasool Shah, resident of Tanchabagh Pampore, Imtiyaz Ahmad Sheikh son of Aziz Sheikh resident of Namblabal Pampore and Haris Younis son of Younis Saleem resident of Hawal, the statement said, adding that they have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized, police said.
Accordingly, police said that a case under FIR number 128/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Pampore and further investigation has been initiated.
“General Public is requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per the law,” police said.
