Cricket, Volleyball tournaments begin in Shopian, Handwara

October 23: In the loving memory of police martyrs, police inaugurated Cricket and Volleyball Tournaments in Shopian and Handwara. Besides, painting and drawing competition organised in District Anantnag.
In Shopian, Cricket Tournament was inaugurated at Shopian Stadium in which multiple teams of different areas of District Shopian will participate.
The Tournament was inaugurated by SSP Shopian Anayat Ali Choudhary.  During inaugural address, SSP Shopian appreciated all the teams for taking part in the event.
He stressed upon the young players of the district to allow their minds to explore their own thoughts and imagination through the medium of sports.
Pertinently, Police in Shopian is organising different sports, cultural, educational events and other co-curricular activities for 10 days long period in the loving memory of Police Martyrs.
In Handwara, police kick started a series of sports and cultural events at DPL Handwara. The inaugural function was attended by SSP Handwara Ifroz Ahmad.
The 10-day long activities started with Cricket and Volleyball matches. The other events include various cultural programmes and seminars on drug de-addiction besides, debate competition among students.
Moreover, police organised a Painting and Drawing competition themed “Contribution of Police Martyrs” at DPL Anantnag. The event saw enthusiastic participation from students of several local schools, including Government Girls High School Khanabal, Boys High School Mir Danter, Government High School Bontangoo, and Police Public School Khanabal.
The competition aimed to honour the supreme sacrifices made by Police martyrs and engage students creatively in this important cause. The event not only showcased the artistic talents of the youth but also reinforced community ties and the significance of remembering those who serve and protect.
