Srinagar: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Nagrota constituency, Devinder Singh Rana on Monday said that the party with 29 legislators will play a role of constructive opposition to ensure that the steps taken towards peace and development by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be carried forward.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of the felicitation of MLAs by the party at Church Lane, here, Rana, as per a local news gathering agency, said that the democracy has been strengthened and Jammu & Kashmir has witnessed a change in the last five years. “There is a peace and brotherhood in Jammu and Kashmir and we will work unitedly to ensure the dream of Prime Minister vis-a-vis peace and development is achieved,” he said.
Furthermore, asked about the role of the party in opposition, Rana said the party will play a role of constructive opposition for the wellbeing of people, development and also ensure that the measures taken in the last five years will be carried forward to maintain peace and brotherhood in J&K.
He also condemned the killings in an attack at Gagangir, Sonamarg, saying that the terrorism has no place in a civilized society, adding that all the people must not only condemn but stand up and identify the people and isolate them as a society.
Rana said that such attacks cannot be tolerated and said that the terrorism is on the last leg, adding that they are all totally disturbed because of the peaceful elections and peoples’ participation in the polls.
The perpetrators will be taught a lesson, he said.
Pertinently, all the 29 MLAs of BJP were felicitated by the party workers and leaders at Church Lane here, who emerged victorious in the recently concluded assembly elections in Jammu region. (KNO)
