Kashmir Marathon: Div Com directs officers to ensure arrangements

SRINAGAR: In order to ensure smooth and hassle free conduct of ‘Kashmir Marathon’, the Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri Thursday enjoined upon all concerned Officers to ensure that all the arrangements are put in place by evening itself.
The Div Com issued these directions in a meeting of concerned Heads of Departments while reviewing overall preparation for the historic event.
The meeting was attended by Commissioner SMC, Dr Owais Ahmad; Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr Bilal Mohi ud din Bhat; Director Tourism Kashmir, Director Floriculture, Director Health, officers of KPDCL, R&B, Traffic, Police and other concerned departments.
Addressing the meeting, Div Com directed officers to dump all the required material at the site of Starting & Finishing venue at Polo Ground by today evening. He also directed for enough barricading at the venue and along the route.
He instructed them that all the facilities shall be presentable with clear signages besides marking the route of Marathon.
The health department was directed for operation of triage centers at TRC & SKICC besides establishment of 17 health stations, deployment of 15 ambulances at different locations and beds at Polo Ground for medical assistance in case of exigency.
While laying emphasis on effective communication, he instructed for usage of Walkie-talkie by nodal officers and communication system of Police to ensure instant flow of information for immediate necessary action.
Div Com directed for establishing the Control Room at TRC manned by the staff of Traffic Police, Security Officers, Health, Tourism, SMC and SDRF Departments.
Meanwhile, Div Com directed Traffic Police to issue advisory regarding Traffic Movement for the action day.
Bidhuri also directed for uninterrupted supply of electricity at Venue and live demonstration of cultural activities, Handicraft activities and display of stalls by Agriculture & Horticulture Departments.
He instructed the concerned for coloring of speed breakers, operation of water fountains and issuance of duty roster for the staff.
The meeting was informed that all the volunteers have been provided training regarding their assigned roles.
