Hope new Govt will heal ‘wounds’: Mehbooba

Srinagar:  In a significant political development, Mehbooba Mufti, the president of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), congratulated Omar Abdullah on being sworn in as the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Today is a very auspicious day. The people of Jammu and Kashmir have got their own government after many years. The people have elected a stable government,” she stated.
Omar Abdullah, aged 54, will take the oath of office on October 16, marking a pivotal moment in the region’s governance. Mufti expressed optimism that the new administration would tackle the challenges faced by the residents, particularly those that have arisen since 2019, and work towards healing the community’s wounds.
“We hope that the government will pass a resolution condemning the decision of August 5, 2019, which the people of Jammu and Kashmir do not accept,” she added.
In a message shared on social media platform X, the PDP expressed its support, stating, “We congratulate @OmarAbdullah on taking oath as CM of UT J&K. People have elected the new government with the hope that it will live up to its promises to stand against the decisions taken on 5th August 2019, and we support the new government on this.”
Iltija Mufti, daughter of Mehbooba Mufti, also took to X to express her sentiments: “After a long wait of six years, J&K will finally have an elected government. Best wishes to Omar Sahab, and hope he does justice to the massive mandate and trust reposed in him by the people.”(KINS)
