PM Modi, LG pay tributes to Mahatma Gandhi

Srinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Lieutenant Governor J&K Manoj Sinha on Wednesday paid rich tributes to the “Father of the Nation” Mahatma Gandhi on his 155th Birth Anniversary.
The Prime Minister in a post on X said, “On behalf of all the countrymen, we pay our respects to respected Pujya Bapu on his birth anniversary.”
His life and ideals based on truth, harmony and equality will always remain an inspiration for the countrymen, PM added.
To express his respect, LG Manoj Sinha said, “Greetings to all on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. Let us take a pledge to follow the ideals & values of Pujya Bapu on truth, sacrifice, non-violence, selfless service & cooperation and dedicate ourselves towards promoting peace & harmony in the society.”
Each year, the 2nd of October is observed as a national holiday in India to honour the birth of Mahatma Gandhi, who led non-violent resistance against British rule for India’s freedom. (CNS)
