Srinagar: In view of tomorrow’s polling for J&K Assembly Elections phase-II, District Election Officer (DEO)/Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat on Tuesday said that they are expecting a good response from the public.
DEO Srinagar, while talking to reporters underlined the importance of voting, said that people should not consider voting day a mere holiday “because for casting a vote one has to wait for five years.”
He also said that eligible voters can cast their votes irrespective of whether the person has received a voter information slip or not.
“We have distributed 7.76 lakh voter slips and in case someone has not received the slip does not mean that the person cannot vote. Any valid identity card like an election card or ration card or Adhaar card or driving license etc. can be brought along to the polling station for casting the ballot,” DEO Srinagar said.
Recalling the record voter turnout in the Srinagar constituency during the Parliamentary elections 2024, Bhat said that they are expecting a good response from the people in tomorrow’s voting.
He further added that all arrangements, including security measures, are in place with regard to the second phase of Assembly Elections polling. (CNS)
