Srinagar: As part of the J&K Legal Service Authority’s 2024 calendar, the District Legal Services Authority Srinagar held the 3rd National Lok Adalat at the District Court Complex, Mominabad Srinagar.The event, guided by Justice Tashi Rabstan and overseen by Jaffer Hussain Beg and Nusrat Ali Hakak, aimed to resolve cases through amicable settlements and reduce court congestion.
The Lok Adalat, inaugurated by Jaffer Hussain Beg, addressed various cases including civil, criminal, cheque bounce, bank matters, MACT, matrimonial, and pre-litigation issues. Nine benches facilitated the proceedings.
The first bench, led by Jeema Bashir and Arti Mohan, settled 50 out of 85 cases, awarding Rs 48,453,000 and distributing five cheques totaling Rs 7,972,419.
Other benches were headed by Gowher Majeed Dalal, Renu Dogra, Iqbal Ahmad Masoudi, Faizan Ul Haq Iqbal, Kusoom Lata Pandita, Swati Gupta, Aadil Mushtaq, Ahtzaz Ahmad, Fida Hussain Nayek, Adnan Manzoor, Sajad-Ur-Rehman, Tasneem Kausar, Touseef Ahmad Magray, Raja Arshad Hamid, Farah Deeba, and Shabnum Munshi.
Overall, 72,490 cases were reviewed, with 65,507 settled amicably and Rs 72,045,110 awarded. The event saw substantial participation from various officials, litigants, and law students.
