Srinagar, Sept 13: Security forces have arrested a militant associate in the Poonch district of Jammu and recovered a consignment of ammunition from his possession.
The statement issued to the media stated that the militant associate was arrested during a Naka-checking at the Potha area in Jammu’s Poonch district.
The suspect tried to flee after sighting the security forces, who, however, apprehended him tactfully, according to the statement.
“During the search, a blue bag containing three hand grenades, explosive substance and other incriminating material were recovered from his possession,” reads the statement.
The arrested militant associate has been identified as Mohammad Shabir son of Mohammad Farooq, a resident of Daryala Nowshera.
The apprehended, as per the statement, is believed to have been in touch with an across-the-border handler, Azim Khan alias Mudeer, “who directed him to collect the consignment from Surankote town.”
