Kalam: A Journey from Ramaswearam to RashrtapathiBhavan

Every school child remembers his long and unique Avul Pakir Jainulabuddin Abdul Kalam. The son of Ramaswearam boat owner who later went on to become India’s most respected scientist and then President of India. A life that’s delved so deep in hardships and kalam won it by his own hard efforts. He defeated the obstacles that arose in his way and made his journey a remarkable success and incredible for any Indian who aspires to dream up to the sky. Kalam’s meagre means and his humble background didn’t limit the man to come up. Kalam knew that Ramaswearam was too small for his big dreams.

       So at a young age, Dr Kalam switched his schooling to Ramanthurapm then later went on to graduate with physics from St. Joseph’s college Trichi. From physics, he went gain aeronautical engineering skills from Madras MIT. His childhood dreams of becoming an air-force pilot turned him down. Kalam’s failure was however pushed him to a new turning point that will have a tremendous impact in India’s space research. Joining as a junior scientist in the then ISRO, under professor Satish Dawan, stalwarts like Vikram Sarabhai. Kalam’s vision as a scientist made India a real super power with technological advancement and progress which really was the edifying moments of ISRO and later for the DRDO. India achieved great heights in the satellite missions and with Agni, PSLV2, the dazzling glory and fame came for Kalam’s vision.

  Dr Kalam took charge as the 11th President of India on 2002 and bringing to his office the most adored “People’s President”. Kalam was more than a scientist, he was more than a rastrapathi, he made and valued himself as a teacher.  President Kalam made India really shine and today the great giant of all times to come, left behind a unique legacy that’s still unpersihed by the sequence of time. Kalam enabled the youth of India to become unique and work for that unique you, to realize the varied capabilities of a generation.

   As India progress, the unique quality and leadership skill represented by Abdul Kalam requires the hour. India need many more such Kalams for progress and development of humanity.
