Srinagar: Five specially-abled students from Abhinandan Home, Rambagh, Srinagar, have successfully passed their 11th class examinations with remarkable results.
Sharing this achievement with KNO Mudasir Ahmad, Principal of Abhinandan Home, said all five students who appeared for the exams this year passed with flying colours.
“For these specially-abled students, Abhinandan Home was their only hope, providing them with the necessary support and resources to excel academically,” Mudasir said. “Over the years, hundreds of specially-abled students from the school have successfully completed their schooling here.”
He said five students who excelled in their 11th class exams include Mehran Syed (420 marks), Shahid Shafi (392 marks), Sadiq Sarwar (374 marks), Yawar Manzoor (374 marks), and Tasif Ahmad (362 marks).
Earlier, 17 students from the school had passed their 12th class examinations with flying colours, while five students had passed their 10th class examinations this year.
The students credited their success to their dedicated teachers who worked hard and taught them despite numerous challenges. They acknowledged the extra effort required for specially-abled students to succeed, which often needs to work twice as hard as their peers. They also expressed gratitude for the unwavering support from their parents, teachers and others who believed in them.
The students, however, said there is a lack of educational opportunities beyond the 12th grade for specially-abled students. “There are no separate college facilities available for them,” they said.
They urged the government to establish separate colleges for specially-abled students to ensure they can continue their studies. “There should be separate schools for specially-abled students at least at the district level to prevent any barriers to our education,” they said.
These facilities must be developed within the next year so that we can continue our academic journey beyond the 12th grade, they said—(KNO)
