Drug peddler arrested in Sopore

Srinagar: In continuation of its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Jammu and Kashmir Police in Sopore on Friday said to have arrested a drug peddler and recovered Psychotropic substances from his possession.

A police party of Police Station Tarzoo headed by SHO Police Station Tarzoo under the supervision of SDPO Sopore at a checkpoint established at Pethseer crossing, intercepted a suspicious person carrying a bag. During the search, Police party was able to recover 12 bottles of Codeine Phosphate from the bag. He has been identified as Nazir Ahmad Yatoo son of Ghulam Rasool Yatoo resident of Sangrama Sopore.  He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody, a police spokesman said in a statement.

Accordingly, police said that a case under FIR number 61/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Tarzoo & further investigation has been initiated.
