Budgam: The elections for the executive body of the District Bar Association Budgam were held on Tuesday at the Court Complex Budgam.
The elections were conducted smoothly under the supervision of the Election Authority led by Advocate Syed Sajad Hussain Geelani, alongside his dedicated team, which included Advocate Zafar Mehdi, Advocate Khurshid Ahmad Dar, and Advocate Misba Qasim.
The election saw enthusiastic participation from the members of the Bar Association, who cast their votes to elect their representatives for the key positions within the association. The results of the election are as follows:
Advocate Javed Mohammad Hubbi was elected as the President of the District Bar Association Budgam, securing a total of 35 votes. Advocate Hubbi emerged victorious against his competitors Mohammad Ashraf Shah, who secured 33 votes, and N.A. Kouchai, who received 29 votes.
Advocate Hilal Ahmad Sheikh won the post of Vice President with a total of 38 votes. He triumphed over his fellow candidates Ajaz Yusuf Parray, who garnered 13 votes, Mehreen Zaffar, who received 25 votes, and Ishrat Irshad, who obtained 20 votes.
Advocate Arif Rashid Shah was elected as the Secretary by a narrow margin, securing 43 votes. He successfully contested against Afaq Ali, who received 42 votes, and Irshad Rasheed, who obtained 11 votes.
Advocate Yunis Ahmad Dar was elected as the Treasurer with a decisive victory, securing 54 votes. He defeated his opponents Altaf Ahmad Wani, who received 27 votes, and Imtiyaz Ahmad Rather, who garnered 14 votes.
The newly elected members of the executive body expressed their gratitude to the members of the Bar Association for their support and confidence. They have pledged to work diligently towards the betterment of the association and to address the concerns and issues faced by the legal fraternity in Budgam.
The Election Authority, led by Advocate Syed Sajad Hussain Geelani, expressed satisfaction over the smooth conduct of the elections and thanked all the participants for their cooperation. The team ensured that the elections were held in a fair and transparent manner, upholding the democratic values of the association.
