JAMMU: A proposal has been mooted for promotion of four IPS officers of 2007 batch, presently posted as DIGs, as IGPs and six IPS officers of 2011 batch from SSPs to DIGs. The proposal is under consideration of the UT Government and a decision is expected within few days in consultations with the Union Home Ministry.
Official said that there has been shortage of IPS officers in the rank of IGPs and DIGs as many officers have proceeded on the Central deputation. Some of the Additional DGPs have been holding additional charge of the IGPs.
