GMC Anantnag performs maiden endoscopic surgery for intestinal tumour

Anantnag: The Department of Medicine’s Gastroenterology at Govt Medical College Anantnag on Friday announced a major milestone with the successful endoscopic removal of an intestinal tumour (colonic polyp).

In a statement to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the hospital authorities said it was a first of its kind procedure in their hospital and was performed under the guidance of HOD Medicine Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Lone and led by Associate Professor Dr Mashkoor Ahmad Beg.

It said that Beg was supported by a dedicated team including Farooq Ahmad Malik (Incharge, Gastroenterology Lab), Tariq Shabir (Endoscopy Technician),  Layeek Gular (Endoscopy Assistant),  Asif and Tariq. Their expertise and coordinated efforts were crucial to the success of this complex procedure.

Dr Beg expressed his gratitude and excitement, stating, “This landmark procedure reflects our commitment to advancing medical care and providing innovative treatment options. I am incredibly proud of our team’s dedication and skill.”

The success of this procedure was made possible by the support and encouragement by GMC Anantnag Principal, Professor Dr Rukhsana Najeeb.
