Srinagar: In a concerted effort to empower the local community with legal knowledge and awareness, students from Vitasta School Of Law recently conducted a comprehensive Legal Literacy Program.
The initiative aimed to bridge the gap between legal understanding and everyday life, ensuring residents are well-informed about their rights and available remedies.
Throughout the program, students engaged with various segments of the local populace, conducting a comprehensive interactive session with the locals at B.K Pora Nowgam. By addressing pertinent legal issues faced by the community, such as Public Service Guarantees, Domestic Violence laws, and consumer protection, the students facilitated a deeper understanding of legal intricacies.
The interactive nature of the program fostered open dialogue, enabling participants to ask questions, seek clarifications, and share personal experiences. Through real-life case studies and practical examples, the students illustrated the relevance of legal knowledge in navigating common challenges.
Furthermore, the program emphasized the importance of accessing legal aid and resources. People of the area were informed about avenues for seeking legal assistance, including pro bono services, legal aid clinics, and helplines.
Reflecting on the impact of the initiative, one of the students Fakhr Uz Zaman, Team Leader of this Legal Literacy Program, remarked, “Our team of Para Legal Volunteers has demonstrated a commendable commitment to community service by spearheading this initiative. By equipping local residents with legal literacy, we empower them to assert their rights and uphold justice.”
The Legal Literacy Program stands as a testament to Vitasta Law College’s dedication to social responsibility and community engagement. Moving forward, the college endeavors to continue such initiatives, fostering a culture of legal awareness and empowerment within the local community.
