Drug peddler arrested in Ganderbal

Srinagar: In continuation to war against drugs, Jammu and Kashmir Police in Ganderbal on Monday said to have apprehended a drug peddler alongwith huge consignment of Psychotropic Substance in the jurisdiction of Police Station Safapora.

On the directions of SSP Ganderbal Shri Sandeep Gupta-IPS under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Ganderbal, a routine checkpoint was laid at Kulpora road near Crossing by the Police Party of PS Safapora led by SHO PS Safapora,  a police spokesman said in a statement.
“One suspicious person coming from Sumbal towards Safapora, after seeing police party tried to flee from the spot, however the said person was apprehended tactfully. He has been identified as Feroz Ahmad Khanday son of Gh Mohd Khanday resident of Qamarwari Bund A/P Shalteng, Srinagar. During search, 100 bottles of Codeine Phosphate were recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody,” police said.

In this regard, police said that a case under FIR number 06/2024, under relevant sections of law stands registered at PS Safapora & further investigation has been initiated.

“We urge the common masses that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact nearest police establishment or dial 112. People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law,” police said.
