Srinagar Police, Vitasta School organize awareness camp, debate on amended criminal laws

Srinagar: District Police Srinagar under civic action programme  in collaboration with the Vitasta School of Law and Humanities, organised awareness camp and debate on amended three new criminal laws viz.,  Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam here on Wednesday.
The event was held in the campus of Vitasta School of Law at Nowgam. The event was attended by the law students  SDPO Panthachowk Zubair Hassan, Station House Officer Nowgam Imtiyaz Ahmed, Principal Vitasta College Dr. Fareed Ahmad Rafique, Vice Principal Rakib Ahmad Zia and faculty members viz., Saheana Shafi, Sabah Bashir, Dr. Fatima Shah, Dr. Shaziya Sagar Durrani, Dr. Humeri Rehman, Sadaf Sareen, Nosheen Ismail, Samreen Mehraj, Uzma Yaqoob, Ajaz Ahmad , Abrar Fazili and Saqib Ahmad.
The event  commenced with an insightful address by Principal Vitasta College Dr Fareed Ah Rafique who highlighted the importance of the new laws in the light of various amendments.
Imtiyaz Ahmad also discussed the need of these new amended laws as they have been enacted way back during British Rule in India.
Zubair Hassan also threw some light on the new provisions incorporated in the new criminal acts. Besides he also guided the law students about the various procedural aspects of the new procedural law.
The Vice- Principal Vitastat College  Rakib Ahmad Zia presented the vote of thanks and extended his gratitude on behalf of college authorities to the District Police Srinagar  for organising such a great and successful event in the college.
