Awareness program held on new criminal laws

5-day course held in Shopian

Srinagar, March 15: Police in Budgam Friday organised an awareness Programme on New Criminal Laws at Girls High School Khanshaib and Higher Secondary School Waterhail.

SDPO Khansahib Gh Mohi Ud-din-JKPS accompanied by SHO PS Khansahib and Incharge PP Waterhal were present during the said program.

The event witnessed significant participation from renowned educationists, prominent individuals and Students. They were given a basic awareness of the 03 Criminal Laws, namely Bharatiya Naya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagrik Surksha Sanhita and Bhartiya Sakshya Abhiyaan

The new laws include provisions that ensure justice for the victims of crime and the society at large.  Modernization of the investigation process through the use of technology has been included and the new laws also sets timelines for trials.

The participants appreciated the role of the Police in organising such an important program.

Meanwhile, police in Shopian organised a comprehensive five-day crash course on the new Criminal Laws (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam) at Recreation Hall DPL Shopian. The course, initiated with an aim to equip officers/officials with the essential understanding of the recently promulgated laws by the Central Government.

The inauguration of the course was graced by the presence of DySP DAR Javaid Ahmad-JKPS, Sr. PO Sarfaraz Ahmad, Insp. Showkat Ahmad, Insp. Altaf Rashid and PSI Iqbal Razak who delivered an enlightening inaugural Lecturers. During the session, Officers emphasised on the understanding of the theme behind the new criminal laws with a view on the significant Changes.
