Srinagar, Mar 12: Two students from DPS Srinagar, Hurriyah Showkat and Mysha Bilal, secured gold medals at the 1st All India Pencak Silat Championship held in Nanded, Maharashtra, from February 18-19.
The championship saw the participation of approximately 800 players from 25 states and UTs across India. Demonstrating exceptional talent, technique, and skill, both Hurriyah and Mysha triumphed over opponents from various states.
Congratulating the students on their remarkable achievements, Principal Shafaq Afshan expressed delight, stating, “We are thrilled that Hurriyah and Mysha have added their names to the long chain of excellence in sports established by school alumni over the years. Their feats are not only a testament to their individual talents but also to the power of girls in sports, paving the way for a gender-equitable future.”
Chairman Vijay Dhar also extended his congratulations to the medalists, emphasizing the school’s commitment to excellence and competition. He stated, “DPS Srinagar stands for distinction, dedication, and an unwavering desire to compete. We are proud that Hurriyah and Mysha have embodied these qualities, which we hold dear in our students.”
