Jammu University to host workshop on NEP-2020 implementation

Jammu: In a significant development aimed at transforming India’s educational landscape, the University of Jammu, in collaboration with the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), is gearing up to organize a three-day workshop titled “Capacity Building in Leadership Development of Academic Administrators and Principals for NEP-2020 Implementation.”

The workshop, with a special focus on internationalizing higher education, represents a major leap towards aligning Indian higher education with global standards.

The University of Jammu has been selected as the nodal university for familiarizing, sensitizing, and capacity building of academicians, administrators, and other stakeholders for the effective implementation of NEP 2020.

During a curtain-raiser press conference, Prof. Dinesh Singh, Vice Chairperson Higher Education Council, Govt. of Jammu and Kashmir UT and Chancellor, Kumara Mangalam University, emphasized the role of NEP in creating a Knowledge Economy essential for sustained high economic performance. He stressed the need to connect students with NEP and enable them to benefit from the freedom it offers.

Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu, Prof Umesh Rai highlighted the critical importance of revisiting curriculum design in light of NEP-2020.

He announced that Jammu and Kashmir UT, led by the University of Jammu, is at the forefront of NEP-2020 implementation, showcasing the region’s dedication to delivering quality education.

The workshop will focus on policy implementation, especially in universities with high youth enrollment.

Dean Academic Affairs and Convener of the workshop, Prof. Anju Bhasin, shared that around 250 participants have registered, with 35 speakers lined up for ten sessions spread over three days.

As India boasts the world’s second-largest education system, witnessing a remarkable surge in higher education participation, the focus now extends beyond mere reform – it’s about comprehensive overhaul. NEP-2020 serves as the guiding light in this transformative journey.

The University of Jammu, with its innovative approaches and multidisciplinary framework, is uniquely positioned to lead discussions on academic reforms and research-oriented training.

Themed “Internationalization of Higher Education,” the workshop will bring together key stakeholders to deliberate on aligning university systems with the vision of NEP-2020.

Program objectives include implementing NEP-2020 recommendations, promoting multidisciplinary education, embracing blended learning, and fostering industry-institution linkages.

The workshop aims to equip participants with knowledge and empower them to enhance their institutions. Featuring presentations, discussions, and group work, the sessions offer ample opportunities for communication and knowledge sharing.
