Srinagar, Mar 04: In the span of four years, Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) has undergone a remarkable digital metamorphosis, propelling development and instilling a culture of transparency and accountability in governance.
This digital revolution has not only reshaped public services but has also ushered in an era of accessibility, efficiency, and integrity like never before. Gone are the days when J&K lagged in digital infrastructure, offering only a handful of online services.
Today, the region stands as a beacon of digitalization, boasting over 1,000 public services available online. This extensive expansion has empowered citizens by granting them seamless access to vital services from the comfort of their homes.
A pivotal moment in this digital odyssey is the integration of 485 e-services with the Rapid Assessment System, enabling real-time feedback from citizens.
With a whopping 7.5 million citizens actively engaged in providing feedback, the government has pinpointed areas for enhancement and bolstered service delivery mechanisms accordingly.
To ensure prompt service delivery, 300 online services have been linked with the auto-appeal system, cutting through bureaucratic red tape and enhancing governance’s efficiency and efficacy. This proactive stance has rendered governance more responsive to citizens’ needs.
The surge in electronic transactions stands as a testament to the digital revolution’s success in J&K. With a staggering 74 crore 42 lakh e-transactions recorded last year, averaging over 2 million transactions daily, the region has outpaced many developed states in digital adoption.
This unprecedented surge mirrors citizens’ growing trust in digital platforms and their eagerness to embrace technology for everyday transactions. Aadhaar-seeding has been instrumental in enhancing transparency and efficiency in welfare schemes in J&K.
By linking all beneficiaries to Aadhaar, the government has facilitated direct fund transfers into their bank accounts, eradicating intermediaries and minimizing leakages.
In the current fiscal year alone, Rs. 2,754 crores have been directly transferred into the accounts of 65 lakh beneficiaries, empowering them to access essential resources and services effortlessly.
Moreover, cognizant of artificial intelligence’s transformative potential, the government has devised a comprehensive AI strategy, focusing on pivotal sectors like healthcare, agriculture, mobility, education, and law enforcement.
By harnessing AI’s power, J&K aims to bolster service delivery, optimize resource allocation, and refine decision-making processes across diverse domains. The digital revolution in Jammu and Kashmir transcends mere technological advancements; it epitomizes citizen empowerment, transparency, and inclusive growth.
As the region continues to leverage digital innovations to tackle socio-economic challenges, it stands poised to become a paragon of digital governance and inclusive development. With a robust foundation in place and a clear vision for the future, J&K charts a course toward a more interconnected, efficient, and prosperous future for all its citizens.
