Ganderbal, Feb 08: Ganderbal police arrested 12 individuals on Thursday evening in connection with a ‘Rice-pulling machine scam’ and seized fake currency along with five vehicles in the Kangan area of the district.
A spokesman stated in a release: “Police station Kangan received information through reliable sources about suspicious activities near Kijpara, close to Dumping Park. Acting promptly, a police party from PS Kangan raided the location and apprehended 12 individuals who were behaving suspiciously.”
During the search, the police recovered 30 bundles of fake currency, each containing 50,000 fake notes, totaling 1,500,000 rupees (in Children’s Bank notes), as well as a total of Rs. 56,600 in Indian currency.
“According to preliminary investigation, they were involved in dealing with ‘Rice pullers’ (Trathgola). Additionally, five vehicles were seized,” he added.
Consequently, FIR No. 08 of 2024 was registered under relevant sections of the law at Police Station Kangan, and further investigation was initiated.”
