Srinagar, Feb 02:Police in Baramulla announced today that they registered 24 cases under the NDPS Act and arrested 39 drug peddlers in January alone.
Among those arrested are 3 hardcore drug peddlers booked under PIT NDPS PSA. The police have also seized contraband substances valued at lakhs in the black market.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident today, the police arrested a drug peddler in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from his possession.
Authorities reported that a police party from Police Post Wussan, led by Incharge PP Wussan at a checkpoint in Sultanpora, intercepted Shabir Ahmad Malla, son of Mohammad DilawarMalla, resident of Sultanpora.
During the search, the police recovered 105 grams of contraband Charas-like substances from his possession.
“He has been arrested and shifted to PS Pattan where he remains in custody. Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of the law has been registered at Police Station Pattan, and investigations have been initiated.”
Police urge the general public to provide information about drug peddling in their neighborhoods and warn that individuals involved will be dealt with according to the law.
