Srinagar, February 01: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police Thursday arrested a drug peddler in Kulgam and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
A police party of Police Station Qazigund at a checkpoint established at Shampora crossing intercepted a suspicious person identified as Imran Ahmad Ganie son of Mohd Ramzan Ganie resident of Nassu Badragund who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully by the alert police party.
During, 06 Kgs of Poppy Straw like substance concealed in nylon bag was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 34/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Qazigund and investigation has been initiated.
