Ganderbal, Jan 31: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday said to have seized 14 kilograms of contraband substance during a raid in Ganderbal.
“On a specific information regarding the presence of contraband substances in the house of Gulab Ahmad Khari son of Gh Hussain Khari resident of Syed Basti Sarfraw, a police party of PS Gund along with Executive Magistrate First Class Gund raided the said location,” a police spokesman said in a statement.
During the search, officers were able to recover 14 Kgs of crushed cannabis concealed in two nylon bags from the cowshed of the accused person, police said, adding that he however, managed to escape from the spot and efforts are on to effect his arrest.
Accordingly, police said that a case under FIR number 06/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered at PS Gund & investigation has been initiated.
“We urge the common masses that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact the nearest police establishment or dial 112. People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law,” police said.
