SDH employee arrested for taking bribe

Srinagar, January 24:  The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested an official from Sub-District Hospital, Sopore, in North Kashmir’s Baramulla in connection with a bribery case related to the issuance of a Date of Birth Certificate, authorities said today.

A case was registered based on a complaint against an official working in the Date of Birth Section of Sub-District Hospital, Sopore, on allegations of demanding a bribe from the complainant for issuing a birth certificate for his daughter.

“It was further alleged that the accused initially demanded a bribe of Rs. 5,000, which was reduced to Rs. 3,600 after negotiation,” authorities said.

The CBI apprehended the accused after accepting a bribe of Rs. 3,600 from the complainant through an online transaction.
