Kashmir achieved success in ensuring peace: Bidhuri

Srinagar, January 24: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone VK Birdhi Wednesday said that security measures are well in place in Srinagar and other districts of Kashmir region ahead of Republic Day celebrations.

He said Jammu and Kashmir Police and other security agencies are well-coordinated to each other to ensure smooth conduct of Jan 26 celebrations.

Talking reporters at Bakhshi Stadium Srinagar, IGP Kashmir said police have coordinated with other forces well for smooth Republic Day function in Srinagar and other districts as well. He said entire security grid is vigilant while well security arrangements are in place.

To a query he said there will be no restrictions on Jan 26 and everyone is invited to take part in the celebrations.

“Instructions have been passed for free-movement of people so that they will attend and take part in celebrations in a smooth manner,” IGP added.

Meanwhile, the Divisional Commissioner, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri on Wednesday said that the Kashmir has achieved success not just in maintaining peace and order but also in various other areas, adding such accomplishments wouldn’t have been possible without the cooperation of the public.

Addressing gathering here at Bhakshi Stadium Srinagar, Bidhuri said that in 2023, a record number of tourists visited Srinagar’s Tulip Garden, and although there could have been traffic congestion issues, actions taken the previous year prevented any such problems.

Bidhuri said whether it was the G20 event, Amarnath Yatra, Muharram Procession, or other occasions, everything was celebrated collectively which shows the essence of “Kashmiriyat” for which Kashmir is renowned.

Expressing pride in his participation in these moments, Bidhuri called upon the public to continue their cooperative efforts for sustained success.

Commending the efforts of contingents participating in the Republic Day Rehearsal celebrations, Bidhuri acknowledged their role in contributing to the positive narrative of progress and unity in Kashmir.
