Gurupurab celebrated with fervour in Kashmir

Div Com, IGP, DC visit Chatti Padshahi

Srinagar: Hundreds of devotees gathered at Gurdwara Chatti Padshahi in Srinagar to celebrate the auspicious occasion of Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s birthday.

On the auspicious occasion, the devotees held special prayers for the snowfall and rain amidst the prolonged dry spell in the Kashmir valley.

The atmosphere at the Gurdwara was filled with joy and spiritual fervor as devotees from different walks of life came together to honor the birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the tenth Sikh Guru.

Amidst the faithful engaged in prayers and hymns, the devotees sought blessings for prosperity, peace and unity.

The distinctive aspect of this celebration was the collective hope for snowfall and a wet spell, phenomena deeply associated with the winter season in Kashmir, which will also relieve the dry spell.

The devotee, while speaking to KNO, said celebrating Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s birthday is a moment of great joy and reflection, adding that they also prayed for snow and a wet spell in Kashmir. A local said, “In the prayers, we find solace and unity.”

Meanwhile, the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri along with IGP Kashmir, V K Birdi and Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Wednesday visited Chattipatshahi Gurudwara Rainawari on the occasion of 358th Prakash Parv of tenth guru of Sikhism, Shri Guru Gobind Singh ji.

On the occasion, Div Com and other officers greeted followers of Sikhism and devotees who had visited in large numbers to Gurudwara to celebrate the birthday of Sikh Guru.

Div Com prayed for communal harmony, brotherhood, peace and prosperity of the region and country.

V.K Birdi during the visit inspected and reviewed the arrangements in place for the devotees.

Accompanied by the officers, IGP Kashmir participated in the celebrations and later on interacted with the Gurudwara management, local authorities, and community leaders to ensure seamless coordination for the comfort and safety of worshippers.

V.K Birdi appreciated the efforts of the Gurudwara committee in fostering a spirit of unity and nurturing a harmonious environment.

IGP Kashmir stressed the importance of maintaining a secure environment for religious gatherings and assured the community of the police force’s commitment in facilitating peaceful and undisturbed observances.

He highlighted the importance of fostering a strong and positive relationship between the police force and the community it serves.

To put all the arrangements in place, he exhorted to work in close coordination to facilitate the community while celebrating the festival. He also urged the officials to remain available for the assistance of visiting devotees.
