Training of 38 JKAS officers commences

Srinagar: The National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG), an apex-level autonomous institution of the Government of India, initiated its 8th capacity-building program for 38 senior officers of the Jammu & Kashmir Administrative Service.

The inaugural session, presided over by V. Srinivas, Director General (DG) of NCGG and Secretary of the Department of Reform and Public Grievance (DARPG), saw discussions on the program’s significance and achievements.

V. Srinivas highlighted that the capacity-building programs for J&K AS officers are conducted at NCGG under the MOU between NCGG and the Government of Jammu & Kashmir.

The digital transformation in Jammu & Kashmir, with 1080 e-Services available on the e-Unnat portal, was recognized as a significant milestone of the collaboration.

Emphasizing the program’s design, V. Srinivas stated, “Our training initiative aligns with the evolving governance landscape, focusing on technological advancements.” He discussed NCGG’s efforts in training officers nationally and internationally, underlining the role of technology in governance.

In closing remarks, V. Srinivas encouraged officers to engage in group work on topics such as the Smart City Programme, E-Unnat for service delivery improvement, Skill India Mission, and E-Office in Jammu and Kashmir. Post-program, officers will present highlights and presentations on these topics.

Dr. A.P Singh, Course Coordinator at NCGG, outlined the course’s components, covering diverse areas such as sustainable development, artificial intelligence, gender and development, and climate change. The comprehensive program will be supervised by a dedicated team at NCGG.

Established in 2014, NCGG, mandated to train civil servants nationally and internationally, has successfully trained officers from various countries, including Bangladesh, Kenya, Tanzania, Tunisia, Gambia, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Laos, Vietnam, Bhutan, and Myanmar.
