Says there is a decline in terrorism
New Delhi: Declaring the surge in tourism as a vivid manifestation of the transformation in J&K, Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh Sunday emphasized that the Union Territory has witnessed an influx of over two crore tourists in the past year.
In an exclusive interview with a news agency, Dr Jitendra Singh remarked, “This has transpired because terrorism has diminished. Previously, the prevalence of terrorism deterred many tourists from visiting Kashmir.”
Addressing allegations from the opposition regarding the government’s stance on elections in J&K, Dr.Jitendra Singh asserted that Home Minister Amit Shah has unequivocally stated multiple times in Parliament that elections will be held at an appropriate juncture.
Referring to the Supreme Court’s directive on elections, he stated, “The Supreme Court has now mandated that elections in Jammu & Kashmir must take place by September, a stance reiterated by the Home Minister. If the Congress persists in accusing the BJP of obstructing elections, whose statements will they trust?”
He underscored that previous administrations in Jammu & Kashmir, owing to their politics of appeasement, had hindered the region’s development and left its residents deprived.
